anagama-large
The Kamaka anagama is about 500 cubic feet, holding up to 1000 pots, and was fired once a year for 9 to 10 days. Pine wood was used for fuel and the kiln was fired by two teams of two people, working twelve hour shifts. All effects are from the firing process on the raw pots. No glazes were used and the history of the firing is evident on each pot.
